Data products
Archived Wind and Stress Products, Climate Data Records
Several long-term time sets of scatterometer wind data are available from
various archives. Some of those are archived near real time data, others are newly
generated reprocessed Climate Data Records. Data sets not listed here may be available on request.
ERS-1 and ERS-2 scatterometer (1992 - 2001)
The reprocessed ERS-1 and ERS-2 L2 25 km-winds
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0009),
in BUFR and NetCDF format, are available from the
EUMETSAT Data Centre.

QuikSCAT/SeaWinds (1999 - 2009)
The reprocessed SeaWinds L2 25-km winds
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0016) and 50-km winds
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0017),
in BUFR and NetCDF format, are available online from the
EUMETSAT Data Centre.

Metop/ASCAT (2007 - present)
The reprocessed Metop-A ASCAT L2 winds on 25-km
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0006) and 12.5 km
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0007) swath grids,
in BUFR and NetCDF format (2007 - 2014), are available online from the
EUMETSAT Data Centre.

The archived near real time OSI SAF ASCAT wind products from Metop-A, Metop-B, and Metop-C in BUFR
and NetCDF format are available online from the
EUMETSAT Data Centre.
You can click on the link 'Online Ordering Application' on this page. After registration
and login, choose the Search Type 'SAF' and you will find the ASCAT winds. The date and
region of interest can be chosen easily.
The OSI SAF ASCAT wind products in NetCDF format are also available online from
PO.DAAC.
Oceansat-2/OSCAT (2009 - 2014)
The reprocessed OSCAT L2 25-km winds
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0018) and 50-km winds
(doi:10.15770/EUM_SAF_OSI_0019),
in BUFR and NetCDF format, are available online from the
EUMETSAT Data Centre.

ISS/RapidScat (2014 - 2016)
The reprocessed RapidScat L2 25-km winds

EUMETSAT Data Centre.

Level 3 gridded wind data
Level 3 data on a regular lat/lon grid are available online from the Copernicus Marine
Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS). These products
are based on the OSI SAF swath level 2 wind data. Currently, ASCAT and OSCAT level 3
wind data can be retrieved from
CMEMS.
Choose 'Global Ocean' and 'Winds' in the catalogue.
